Ive used a few tractor mounted blowers in my time and the model 49 is as good as you can get in a single stage except for one thing, only 1" of lift. As Im in the process of making some mods to my blower that Ill post later, but for now I figured Id share this simple mod. With nothing more that two pieces of 1/4" steel welded in the lift slots you can gain 3" of additional and much needed lift. Here you can see one side done and the other piece ground and ready to be welded in place. And heres both sides welded in and ready for paint. For my tractor I needed these pieces to be 3/4" long and radiused to fit the slot on one end. I would recommend only doing this if you intend to do both sides as doing only one will wear your lift cylinder and cause it to leak. Using a bolt in the slot will simply not work as the cylinder rod is in the way. Ill add more info here after I get the blower back on the machine.

Alright Im done.....Finally! I was doing a bunch of other mods on the blower so I couldn't finish this till I had them done and the blower down off the bench and mounted on the tractor. Here is a beauty shot of the mod with everything attached and the blower in the full up position. No interference anywhere and it lifts smooth. And here is the end result, I gained a whopping 4 1/2" of additional lift! WOOO HOOO! Overall I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. 5 1/2" of lift! I even went cruising around the trails on my property and I had plenty of ground clearance wherever I went. I think I could get even more lift as the lift brackets hit the end of the lift cylinder and act as a stop, but Ill leave it this way as it does not contact the hood an any chute position this way. With more lift there might be some interference between the chute and the hood and I don't want to booger up the paint. .
